Jenn is to arrive in Denmark 50 hours later!!!!

Door to door it will have been 50 hours!!!! Thats if she makes this flight today.  Jenn says shes at her breaking point and if she doesnt get on this flight today she is going to cry. I dont blame her.  I told her to just get an application at the airport and apply for part-time job. Anyways Jenn is back in the VIP lounge sleeping and I happen to sneak a picture in of her while we were skyping. She is out cold.  I remember being stuck in airport sleeping and thats not what I was sleeping on.  Welll keep your fingers crossed, hopefully she will make it here today!!!

Jenn is still not here!!!

So she was suppose to arrive today at 1pm. No biggie planes get delayed, but I didnt think the airport would shut down and the roads would be so bad that she couldnt take a cab to a hotel. I have to give it to her, she is one tough cookie. I would be in a panic right now pretty much crying!!! She just rolls with the punches and finds a way. Unreal!!! So she managed to get a mat with blankets from the airport and just set shop for the night. She told me early that she was on the 755am for tomorrow (Dec 19th) but than said it was cancelled just a few minutes ago. She told me not to worry because she will be on the 610 PM flight, yes PM!!!!  Great!!!!  She is off to bed now in London airport with the many others that have been stranded for longer than her. Overall Jenn is in good spirits and keeps telling me that she will get here. I mean 5 months without seeing her, whats another 24 hours.  Here is Jenns set up in the airport. I told her its just like camping!!!! I dont know how she does it. The funny thing is that last years traveling experience for her and the year before were even worse, so its no biggie. I would be in anger management classes if I had to deal with this.

Airport is shut down!!

On a positive note jenn might get on the 6pm flight , if not she will get on the 6:10pm flight TOMORROW!!!!! yeah tomorrow. Awesome!!!! Here is her view from the VIP Lounge (thanks for that Mike).

Cancelled across the board!!

Jenn just posted this picture on Facebook!!!!! (all that red is flights cancelled)

Jenns stuck in London!!

Of course she is stuck in London. I mean I havent seen her in 5 months whats another day of delays!!! Brutal. Hopefully she gets out tonight and I can still get her. There are delays all over Europe due to snow.
AWESOME!!!!

3rd loss of the year and in a row!!! ouch!!

Played last night against Herning who is one of the better teams in the league and have beaten us twice this year. Both games were tight and we deserved to win but our PP (powerplay) has been struggling a bit and we cant seem to put pucks in the back of the net. Also we are battling some injuries right now. The leading point scorer last year in the league is hurt right now with a back injury that he got in Italy. Plus we got rid of one of our imports that was here briefly on a tryout but he left to go to Sweden. He was a great addition but the rumor was we couldnt afford him, so he left. We are struggling a bit but the team isnt too worried and there are rumors that we will be getting another import before the trade dead line. Hopefully a new addition will spark back up our team and we can get back on track. We play tomorrow at home again against another tough team. I believe they are in 3rd place catching up quick!!! Should be another tight game.

On a good note, I was voted Player of the month and was given an award for my effort this past month. I got a trophy and tickets to the movie theater. I gave the tickets to my Danish line mate because the theater is in Danish, so I wont be going anytime soon.

The two pictures below are photos of me getting banged up. One where I was crushed into the boards head first. I hurt my hip on that one. The other you can see me laying on the ice to the left feeling the pain. As you can see the net is off and bodys are on the ice. I went into the net hard for a rebound and scored, but the Ref called it back saying the net was off first (BS).  A player cross checked me from behind and I went flying into the net really hard. I hurt my back on the play.  Standard little injuries but nothing this 5'6'' 180 lbs beast cant handle hahah!!

Movember was a success!!!!

  Last Picture of the Stash!!!!

Trip to Italy ends in Finals shootout!!!

WE WON!!!!!

Our trip to Italy was unreal, from the food to our victory in the finals.  It was a trip that the entire team was looking forward to from the start of the season and it couldnt of ended in a better way. The final game came down to a shoot out to the host Asiago where I went in the shoot our 4 times. Yes 4 times. I missed 3 times and had the chance to win it but failed. Although I put one in the back of the net when it counted just as much as winning it. The one time I did score it was all on the line. If I didnt score we would of lost. Ive got to admit I rarely get nervous when I go in the shootouts, but this time around knowing that is was up me to score I was shaking right before I went. Thinking to myself as went down the ice all alone on the goalie, I knew that I had to score to keep our team in it. I went to my usual move and it worked and Ive got to admit the feeling I had inside was such a high. I keep my emotions to myself and rarely show how happy I am on the outside, but it was great feeling knowing that I scored to keep our team alive for another shooter. Also if didnt score I think my coach would of killed me knowing that he gave me 4 chances to score hahah. It ended with Dustin Vanballegooie our D-man going down the ice and shooting over the goalies glove. It was finally over after a total of 18 shooters!!!! I was the first one on the ice to sprint to Dustin where we hugged in mid air. It was a great feeling and it secured us a spot in Belarus, in the Finals in January. It should be another great challenge for our team. I cant wait!!!

Here are some of the pictures of our trip back home that took a total of 29 hours!!!! Should of took us around 6, but we were delayed, delayed and than canceled. After a big victory and going out and enjoying the win staying out until the sun came up haha, we had no idea that we were in for a 29 hour trip. Here are some pics of the boys in the airport feeling the weekend catch up to them.

Below is Dustin who had the shootout winner!!!
 Boys just waiting around!!

Dustin taking another nap with D-partner Matt!!!

Stolle sleeps on a hard bed at home, so the concrete floor was fine!!

All I can do is laugh here!!!!

You would think this was a staged picture, but this is the real thing!! Priceless!

Stash update!!!

Its to long I have to comb it!!!!

First Loss of the year 3-2

First loss of the year. It was an away game against the team we just beat 6-1. I didnt play tonight due to my injury, but hoping to be back in for Sundays game. There isnt much to say about the game besides we gave up 2 short handed goals!!! Yikes!!! First short handed goal(s) against this year.  Still in First by 17 points so things are still positive here in Vojens. We will be ready for Sunday for sure.

Tonights game was canceled!!

Our Zamboni broke down and they couldnt do th ice before the game, so the game was canceled. I guess thats god for me considering I wasnt going to play due to my injury. Im no sure when the game will be rescheduled for but ill keep you updated.

Game tonght!! I wont be playing.

Due to my injury I wont be playing tonight, but with our hard working and talented team I doubt I will be missed. Im taking it day to day and its getting better just not 100%, than again I havent been 100% since I was like 14 years old.  Ill be sitting in the stands tonight rocking my Movember Stash.  Its just awful looking but my wife loves it so I might keep it until December when she comes to visit (JOKE, she hates it. She wont video skype with me because she says im ugly. Im going to have to agree with her on this one).

Here is my Stash as of today!!! Looking more and more like my Dad!!!

Northeastern State of Mind

This song basically sums up my days at college!! Its dead on.

6-1 win, comes with a price!!

Pain area!!!

Game started off just like every other game Ive played but near the end of the first period I got twisted the wrong way and my back felt like someone had stabbed me with a knife. It was my lower back that just gave out. I couldnt move much at all. I played one more shift that period as the game pretty much was over for me. When getting hurt ,while playing you always think that the pain will go away so I tried to shake it off and return for the 2nd period. I played the first shift in the 2nd period and quickly realized that I was doing my team and myself no good trying to fight this injury. I took myself off the ice and went to the locker room to get evalutated. I will get some therapy today and try to fgure out what is wrong with my back. It was very frustrating for me because a of lately I have been playing some great hockey, (well I think) plus we have 3 more games in 6 nights. As for our game on Wednesday its not looking to good for me. I got a total of 3 hours sleep last night because of all the pain I was in. The doctors gave me pain killers, but I always laugh when they give those out. I call them Mike N ikes my favorite candy, because they do nothing for me and all I want to do is take more, but we all know too much is not good for you. So the pain killers were no help and I will just have to take this injury day to day. Ill keep you updated on my status. Sports and injuries its like my new mortgage I have, once a month you know you are going to have to pay. Well im paying now!!!
On a side note I had 2 assists last night in that first period to help my team start out with a 2-0 lead.

Big win tonight 4-0!!

On the first goal you will see me in the far left corner and come out and pass back door to Storm for our PP goal!!
The last goal is hard to see but I come into the screen on the right side and shoot quickly. I shoot lower left on the goalie. Not the greatest camera work, but its nice that our Fan Support posts these on Youtube!!

4-1 Win!!

Well, our goalie Alfie finally got scored on after being scoreless for over 6 full games.  What an accomplishment. Our D-men say that they deserve all the credit hahaha.  Last night was another great game for the team and for my line, considering coach placed our teams leading scorer on my line. It was great playing with him and he made my job easier. Kim Lykkeskov now my right winger and also team captain is arguably one of the best Danish hockey players in the country. He has NHL speed and makes great plays all the time.  I hope to play with him for future games.  Our first game together was last night and it was a hit from the start where our line dominated the game from start to finish. Kim and myself both ended up with 2 goals and 2 assists, while my left winger Storm had 2 assists., but without Storm our line wouldnt be complete. Its a pleasure playing with both of these talented Danish players. Oh yeah my MOvember Mustache was in full effect last night and some guys on the other team (imports) said they loved my Stash. Other Danish players on the other team were giving me sh%t all game saying I was soooo ugly. I kept thinking to myself, my wife couldnt agree anymore!  The stash has 27 more days to go for a good cause.

Movember is here!!! Yes Movember. My stash is ready to go!!!

About Movember

The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember.

Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.
The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.
In 2004 the campaign evolved and focused on raising awareness and funds for the number one cancer affecting men – prostate cancer. 432 Mo Bros joined the movement that year, raising $55,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia - representing the single largest donation they had ever received.
The Movember moustache has continued to grow year after year, expanding to the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Finland.
In 2009, global participation of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas climbed to 255,755, with over one million donors raising $42 Million US equivalent dollars for Movember’s global beneficiary partners.

Big win ends in a shoot out.

Once again we dominated the game but were forced to overtime/shoot out.  Starting the game my line was buzzing around creating tons of chances, one of which we capitalized on, but the ref called it back because man in the crease (later we looked on the video, nobody was in crease ughhh).   First period ended in a 1-1 tie. My first shift in the second period will be a goal I'll remember forever. It was the prettiest goal I have ever scored. I got the puck in our D-zone and skated up the ice toedragging the puck around one d-man and than went wide and cut in tight on the goalie, putting it blocker side. It might not sound that great but its something that I told my teammates after, that most likely you wont see that again. I was amazed that I actually pulled it off. It was highlight material (tooting my of horn, yess!!).  2-1 now going into the third with a lead and looking like we could pull away with the game but shortly into the third it was 2-2.  Overtime was closing in and then a shootout. I went in the shoot out again and low and behold, my usual move worked (cant say what it was might have some goalie  blog followers hahah).  We won the game!!!!
we now have 10 wins 2 shoot out wins and 1 shoot out loss. Still undefeated in regualtion!!!
Also you can see another call, the Ref missed. Yes that is a stick hitting me clear in the face!!

My interview after our 6-0 Win!

First off, Dont worry JENN I will shave before you come to visit.
Here is an interview of me after Tuesdays game.

SønderjyskE - EFB Ishockey 26/10-10

The second goal, is the goal I scored. Im #12 at the bottom right corner of the screen. I was a little excited after goal as you can see.
Than the last goal on the clip I pass to my winger Storm.  You will see me come into the screen on the left side and pass to the middle where Strom takes a one timer.

still going 6-0 win!!!

Man of the match: Jason Guerriero - the little Canadian, worked hard and steady and seasoned his fine job with a single score.

This was what the League website had to say about me. Its all good but Im from the US guys hahah.

Another great team effort, but more importantly we beat my buddy Steve Birnstil for the 3rd time this year heyyyy ohhh, bragging rights!!!
I scored too, which is rare. I actually celebrated pretty hard after I scored and usually Im calm after putting one in. I get more pumped when I make a pass for an assist.

Overall it was a great game and Alfie our goalie is setting his shut out record every second of every game he doesnt allow a goal. I think its 7 games now that he hasnt let one past him. If there was a fantasy hockey league in Denmark, Alfie would be my #1 pick.

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Make the call.

Ref missed another one!!!!
Holding is the call here. If you look close the puck is in the bottom right hand corner of the photo. I was just about to make a pass to my winger all alone in front of the net, but I was unable to due to the lack of motion of my right arm being occupied.

Still Rolling in the Wins!!

Alfie makes it look easy!!!
4-0 win gave us our 9 win in regulation. We have 1 shoot out loss and 1 shoot out win. Things are going well and even better for our starting goalie Alfie Michaud.  He set a Danish record, going 266  minutes and 29 seconds without letting in a goal. He made Danish history last game on Friday where he was rewarded with a shut out again. Time will continue to tick as the next game starts. Congrats to Alfie and his hard work.

I think the Ref missed this call!!

Nice right hand to my face!!

I was pretty pissed last game with the way the Ref's performed, but than again who is ever happy with a Referee. If you notice in the picture above I'm being hit which is fine, but 1) I dont have the puck, so thats interference and 2), well you can pretty much call what ever you want. I remember that hit to my face. Anyways thought you should see that a little guy like myself is always getting hit to the head. Not fun!!!

3-2 win in shoot out!!

Still rolling without a loss (knock on wood) in regualtion.  We played well but made a few mistakes that caused our 2-0 lead to get all tied up in the 3rd. It was a tough game, physically that is. Odense the team we played ,are very physical and take lots of cheap shots. Sometimes I wish there was fighting in Europe. I say that now but who am I kidding, I've dropped the gloves maybe 3 times in my pro career.   So the game went to OT (overtime) and we had some really good chances to put the game away but after 5 Mins of OT, it went to a shootout!!!!  I was first to shoot, wait for it............ Yes I scored. I went with my usual, dip the shoulder fake back hand and shoot lower left. It was a good feeling to score in the shoot out, and to give our team the advantage from the start. Next they shot, goal. We shot, goal. They shot, goal. We shot, goal. They had the final shooter and he had to score to keep his team alive. Nope!!!! We took the win in a shootout. It was a tough road game but Coach was happy with our shootout win. Our next game is Friday against my buddy from college Steve Birnstil. Need to win that game to have some bragging rights!!

Saturday, October 16, 2010

Still undefeated in regulation!!

3-0 win last night gave us our 8th win.  We have a shootout loss which doesn't count as an official loss and we are currently in first place. Things are looking good for our team. My line is struggling a bit recently. My winger Mick Jensen is out for possibly 2 months and we were just starting to work well together. Plus import D man Dustin went home to Canada for personal reasons, so my line has been out of sync for a bit. Dustin will be back on Monday so hopefully we can get rolling again and put up some numbers. On a positive note I've been doing unreal on face offs. Face offs are a key aspect to the game becasue more the face offs won means more puck possession time, which means more offesense. Our next game is Tuesday.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

9 goals

I wear #12, small guy!!

I score the 3rd goal
had an assist on the 5th goal. Im right near the left post and pass to guy in front for an empty net.
had an assist on the 8th goal. You cant see me to well but im in far left corner with puck. Right before I go behind the net I pass right across the front of the net and # 6 goes top cheese.

Happy Birthday to my wife Jennifer!!!!!

Enjoy your day JennJenn!!!!!!
October 9th 1982

9-2 Win

Doesn't look like it, but this is where I slash the goalies glove and puck sneaks in.
 Always smiles after a goal!!

Signing some autographs after the game.

Our game yesterday Friday was a great game with 7 different players scoring goals, me included. Finally scored a goal. It was an exciting game for our fans who loudly cheered after 9 goals!!!

Canadian Thanksgiving at the Gooie's

Once again the Gooie family invited me over for another awesome dinner. We celebrated Canada's Thanksgiving. Myself and some other guys from the team enjoyed an amazing meal. I made home ade Mac and Cheese. It was a big hit with one of the players kids. The only bad thing is that they want me to host US Thanksgiving, considering Im the only American born player on the team. Hopefully ill get some help from a few of the wives who are from the US.
